Day 4 – Tibooburra to Innamincka

Happy Easter All.

360km done today.

Nath: Cool start to the morning again and we were back on the road by around 7:30am. Lots of kangaroo’s, emu’s and bird life around. The landscape has change to red dunes with lots of greenery around due to all the water running through from QLD.

Somewhere along the track, Buckets locked up and had a near miss with a kangaroo; damn Shoo Roo’s don’t work.

Refuelling after another 300km on the trip metre at Cameron Corner store, old matey in the store advises us to go via Epsilon through a station were we would have fun…. Oh yeah we had fun, sand, marble like rocks and bull dust. Mick stacked in the sand, then I stacked trying to stop to help Mick get his bike off him because he was indicating he was stuck and based on the arm movement I guessed in a little pain. (Mental note: Don’t use front brake in sand!) After getting the 2 bikes back up I had to ockie strap the left pannier bag on as the clip broke when the bike fell on it. Buckets managed to pull through this sandy corner without mishap. Lucky him!

We made it to Innamincka by 2pm ish where we enjoyed the refreshment of a cold West End SA pint each, $22 a shout of 3. Then another shout….. $$$$$$

Leaving to the campground…….. Now you would think this was an easy task after we have nearly covered 2000km’s over not so good roads…. Just a few hundred meters down to the river. Mick pulls a wheelie leaving the pub, “apparently”…. All I saw was his back wheel going side to side and whack, slide, Mick’s down in the car park. A cheer goes up from the onlookers. Now the bike does not start and Buckets tows Mick to the camp ground for an early set up, a swim in the flooded Cooper Creek and our first change of clothes. Buckets and I were in pain laughing for quite some time after Mick’s stack!!!
