Day 168 – Climbing tall trees

Sunday, 12 December 2010

We packed up again this morning as our camping destination for this afternoon is unknown. First stop was Beedelup Falls. We got to walk on a suspension bridge to view the falls which was lots of fun. I went out first and got half way when Maree started jumping on the bridge at the edge, bouncing me in the air.

We then went to the Bicentennial Tree which is about 75 metres up. Nathan, Les and I climbed to the top of it. It was awesome but my legs were feeling like jelly after it and even started cramping when I had to climb down. I thought I would be scared, but I wasn’t.

We then drove through Pemberton and got air in our tyres before heading out to the Gloucester Tree. Maree, Les and Nathan climbed to the top of this 61mtr fire lookout. Maree was very happy to have her feet firmly on the ground when she got down. We then headed back to Warren National Park and drove around Heartbreak Trail to find a camp spot. There was nothing suitable for us, so after eating some lunch we continued on. We made a quick stop at Warren Lookout before heading back to Carey Brook to set up camp in Grasstree Hollow at 3.30pm. Yay, finally we are off the road at a decent hour! We even got to have a fire this evening for the 1st time in a long time. It is fantastic.

Until next time…. Happy and Safe Travels.
